Sue Doughty congratulating winning school children at the Guildford annual pancake race

Guildford High Street was host to its third annual pancake race, raising around £400 for the charities Guildford Action and the Charlotteville Jubilee Spike Project.
Local children from Road Play Group, Pewley Down Infant School, Sandfield Primary School and Royal Grammar School participated as well as teams from Waterstone's, Guildford in Bloom, the police, 96.4 Eagle Radio and the Borough council's recycling department. There were also characters from Daisy & Tom shop and Guildford Heat's mascot, Scorcher.
Sue Doughty, attending as a finishing line judge said, "The children and their parents really enjoyed themselves. You have to admire the great sense of community spirit with so many local people coming together with local organisations to help provide an enjoyable day for everybody, whilst also being meaningful through helping charities that will give something back to the less privileged within Guildford. I'm very grateful."
Guildford Action runs a family support centre helping 30 families each day, providing friendly support for issues such as housing and relationship breakdown, domestic violence and mental health issues.
