Fair Trade

Despite Guildford being awarded Fair Trade Status over a year ago, there are still no signs in the town.

Although there were promises that this would be sorted out within a matter of weeks, problems about signage have not been ironed out.

Sue Doughty, who has led on the Fair Trade initiative for Guildford said, "This has really saddened me. We have been working on this for nearly five years and we were thrilled to earn the right to call ourselves a Fair Trade Town.

"Part of our bid was the council's demonstration of its commitment to Fair Trade and yet in the main area we need to show this, we have been badly let down. Our businesses and Fair Traders are doing their part. It's time the council did theirs."
