Sue: "Three A&E Services for Surrey is a Sick Joke"6.38.23pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 14th Sep 2006 Sue Doughty has strongly attacked proposals under discussion by the regional health authority for just three A & E departments. She said "In the case of very serious illness or injuries, the time taken to reach A & E can be a matter of life and death. These proposals show that the government and local health bosses are more interested in saving money than saving lives. They could save money from the outset by calling a halt to such consultations and spending money on more practical improvements." The plans can't succeeding in making an NHS "Fit for the Future" and put lives needlessly at risk.
