Sue Doughty gives cautious welcome to Thornchace news

Following the decision to withdraw the closure notice on Thornchace
School, Sue Doughty said
"I'm delighted that the County has decided not to make a decision on the
future of the school until later in the year. It was absolute nonsense to
suggest that the school could be closed when there was no provision for
pupils with the severest of needs to go anywhere else. I had been
astonished at the lack of sensible thinking on this.
"What we now need is a plan to invest in the school, including respite
breaks for the pupils. The school does a fantastic job, and integrating
the pupils into main stream schools is not a realistic option."
