Sue Doughty MP has welcomed the support given to Lib Dem waste policies in a report published this month by environmental campaign group Friends of the Earth.

All the policies recommended in the group's report, Target Recycling: Aiming for 50% and Beyond, are already Liberal Democrat policy.

Waste management looks set to be an important issue again the election campaign in Guildford.

Sue said:

"We are delighted to have the backing of a major environmental campaign group like Friends of the Earth for the policies we have been advocating.

"Both the old parties are hopelessly out of touch with the environmental needs of Britain's economy and are a long way behind with their policies.

"This endorsement shows yet again that only the Liberal Democrats have the credible policies that will avoid the new incinerators the local Tories want to build in Surrey."
