Bramley celebrates mast refusal2.57.45pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 14th Feb 2005 Sue Doughty MP and local residents are celebrating today after learning that the application by Hutchison 3 for a third generation mast in the centre of Bramley has been rejected. Sue and 87 residents of Bramley made strong objections to the mast, not only on the basis of health concerns, but also in objection to the mast itself which would have towered over local houses. The Bramley Action Group, BARMI today met a representative of Hutchison to discuss their proposals for masts and gained his assurance that they will not appeal Waverley's decision. However it has become clear that Hutchison will continue to try to find a suitable site in Bramley to support 3G systems. In today's meeting residents quizzed Hutchison about the whole telephone mast strategy which will mean far more masts in the area. However it became clear that the company has already met its obligations on national coverage and that further masts will be solely a matter of commercial and technical planning by the company.
