Guildford MP welcomes South West Trains changes to reduce train horn noise4.59.39pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 23rd Dec 2004 Sue Doughy MP has been contacted by the Managing Director of South West Trains to inform her that modifications will be made to all train horns to reduce the noise by around 6-8 dB, a reduction of around 75%. They hopes to complete the modifications to their train horns by the end of April 2005. Sue, who has been campaigning on reducing the impact of train horn noise for Guildford residents near rail crossings and tunnels, said: "This is excellent news for the many Guildford residents who have contacted me because of the high level of disturbance they suffer from train horn blasts starting early in the morning and continuing to late at night. "The 75% noise reduction South West Trains say they will achieve is fantastic, but the residents will understandably want to see if the changes are as effective in practice as they sound on paper."
