Guildford MP slams council on Wastes1.06.57pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 1st Dec 2004 Sue Doughty, MP for Guildford has slammed Surrey County Council's Waste Policy. She said: "This council has failed in every way. The have wasted money time wasting when they should have been getting on with reducing the waste which goes to landfill. This could cost council tax payers £6m. They stand to lose £17m of government money to help with waste management. They have tied themselves into an expensive contract which means that to avoid incineration council tax payers will have to pay higher charges and to cap it all, after years of deliberation they are still proposing to include incineration. This is a truly appalling state of affairs and does nothing to relieve the misery for those who live close to landfill sites."
