Sue Doughty MP with Lenny Henry and Dawn French

Sue Doughty MP, Lenny Henry and Dawn French all signed up to the 'Make Poverty History' Campaign.

Sue Doughty MP joined Comic Relief stars Lenny Henry and Dawn French to sign up to the joint CAFOD, Oxfam and Comic Relief 'Make Poverty History' campaign.

Rather than asking the public for money, 'Make Poverty History' wants people to call on the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, to change the rules and practices of unjust trade, cancel poor countries' debts and deliver more and better aid.

Sue said:

"If we are to have any hope of eradicating poverty, there must be concerted action aimed at trade justice, dropping the debt and providing more and better aid.

"The Government has a unique chance to push forward these agendas next year when it holds the presidency of both the G8 and the European Union. We are calling on the Prime Minister to act on the moral obligation that wealthy G8 and EU countries have to improve the lives of people in developing countries through fair trade, debt cancellation and increased aid."
