MP intervenes over sewage misery problems

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 2nd Nov 2004

Sue Doughty, MP for Guildford has raised the issue of sewer flooding in Stoke Road with Thames Water.

She said: "Residents have been suffering for years from sewage over flow following periods of heavy rainfall. Although Thames Water clean up Stoke Road afterwards, this is always incomplete due to parked cars and the road continues to present a health hazard to local people.

We need a permanent solution to the problem, not just a quick cleanup."

Sue has contacted Thames Water as a result of complaints by Mr and Mrs D Pollock of 123 Stoke Road who, along with their neighbours have had to suffer raw sewage in Stoke Road.
