THERE'S NO GOING BACK SAYS DOUGHTY

Commenting on Michael Howard's visit to Guildford today Sue Doughty said "The Conservatives are unlikely to win back Guildford. Most people will be shocked when they learn that the new policies of the Tory Party are little different to the old ones. They still favour the rich at the expense of the poor. Patient passports come at a high price. To queue jump for a hip replacement would cost £5,000. Education Vouchers would mean that parents who want to send their children to a different school would have to find on average £1000.00 a year for their child to take up a place. This would result in the local schools being left under funded and at risk at closure. Many Guildford families have still not forgiven the Conservatives for closure of schools in North Guildford. More local schools would be set to close as Tory plans for the introduction of vouchers. The people who will feel the pinch most will be older people who are already treated unfairly by the Council Tax system brought in by the Conservatives. With policies like this few people would be prepared to turn back to the Tories in Guildford
