12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 24th Feb 2004

Following last nights meeting with students and key players to discuss increasing the safety on footpaths around the University Sue Doughty MP said

"I hope that we can see this whole problem resolved soon. We had originally expected a solution last September but now it is more likely to be next September. I have asked to be informed if there are further delays.

It is essential that if we are asking people to avoid using cars that footpaths are safe and well lit. Some action has happened but more is needed with no further delay."
