Sue Doughty, Liberal Democrat MP for Guildford has asked leaders of Surrey University Students Union to set up political meetings to enable students to understand the political issues and to challenge politicians and candidates.

Sue said : "The months leading up to the general election are going to be challenging and it is important that we take the debate to the University. Surrey University is always quiet at this time of year as students are immersed in exams, but in the Autumn the political temperature will rise."
