DOUGHTY CRITICISES POST OFFICE CLOSURES

Sue Doughty has further criticised proposals by the Post Office for closure of branches in Guildford. She said:

"The original proposals were based on flawed local information. I am astonished that in their response to my letter to them the Post Office continues to claim that every route that they propose for people to go to other Post Offices had had been walked by Post Office Management. This is impossible to believe. No one who had walked the route would ever suggest that people in Onslow would walk to Woodbridge Hill across the Ladymead Road. Similarly, they can't have walked up the hill from Madrid Road to the University Post Office Branch which is in the middle of a concrete area up a steep hill and a number of steps".

She has also drawn to the attention of the Post Office concerns raised by Surrey Association for Visual Impairment (SA-VI). People with visual problems need much more help in the Post Office and SA-VI has been particularly concerned that very little appears to be being offered to them. Sue has drawn this to the attention of the Post Office.
