Sue Doughty dismisses Tory claims on school improvements

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 1st Jun 2001

Sue Doughty believes that Tory plans for schools and universities are unsustainable and unreliable.

During the meeting to discuss Education in the 21st century Sue Doughty made a strong attack on claims by the Tories that they would provide good education. She said: "Despite the claims for victory in the Education debate, the reality is that Tories close much valued pre schools, they consult local families about schools and then completely disregard them and their plans for students would create massive debts which could lead to real graduate shortages in the South East."
